About
If you are in George Town, Pulau Pinang, you must make a stop at CRC Restaurant. Nestled at No. 3, Jalan Padang Victoria, this establishment captures the essence of traditional Chinese dining, offering an extensive menu filled with comfort food that feels like home.
Your senses will be in for a treat with standout dishes like the yellow rice wine chicken, a delightful off-menu surprise that even seasoned foodies rave about. Another highlight is the signature Tofu dish, which promises a perfect balance of flavor and texture—a favorite among regulars. For seafood lovers, the seafood tofu exudes authenticity, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of Chinese cuisine.
What struck me during my visit was the remarkable consistency in quality across various dishes. The stir fry kailan is crunchy yet tender, perfectly cooked to maintain its fresh green essence. Meanwhile, the pork spare ribs are not to be missed—they explode with flavor and are crafted to perfection. Notably, the sour and spicy soup adds a delightful zing to the palate, although it subtly deviates from what you'd find in Hong Kong, offering a unique reinterpretation.
The ambiance of CRC Restaurant flows with a nostalgic charm, reminiscent of a classic family dining experience. Customers describe it as an "old-fashioned Chinese restaurant" where every bite of food evokes cherished memories. It's spacious, accommodating large groups with its banquet hall and private dining rooms, making it ideal for gatherings, celebrations, or simply enjoying a satisfying meal with family.
As customer reviews suggest, the service is efficient, ensuring that even during busy hours, your food reaches you promptly without compromising quality. That warm, cozy feeling when perfectly cooked dishes arrive at your table is something truly special and worthwhile.
For anyone seeking authentic, hearty Chinese food, CRC Restaurant is a must-visit. Whether you're revisiting childhood favorites or trying something for the first time, each dish tells a story and brings the flavors of classic Chinese cuisine to life. Don't hesitate—dine at CRC Restaurant and indulge in a remarkable culinary experience that will keep you coming back for more!
“ Good ol fashion Chinese restaurant with lots of seating. Service was fast and all the food we had was tasty, felt like home made and has a great variety of food. A side of extra garlic and green chillis of you so desire. I would recommend the signature Tofu dish. Sweet and Sour pork was cooked perfectly and ironically the Lemon Onion rings and Chicken was great too. ”
“ Best chinese fare in Penang - a must try! Been heading here for years, always happy with the food. This time we had the signature bean curd (they do it with local bean curd too instead of the egg tofu - tell them your preference), steamed sliced grouper with spring onions and sliced ginger signature pork ribs, fried eggplant. Everything was top notch. Just go, don't think twice! ”
“ This is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I found in Penang. It is a large restaurant with a big banquet hall and a few private rooms. The restaurant is good for big banquet, company dinner, and private gathering. It was very popular on the day that we had our dinner. It was full house. It was definitely under staff for serving the tables. However, the kitchen was very efficient and our food came soon after we made our order. We ordered their signature pork spare rib which tasted very good. The sour and spicy soup is also not bad. It is slightly different from that I had in Hong Kong and China (上海酸辣湯)。 The claypot Tofu is also good. However the 魚香茄子 (eggplant) is not that good. I could taste the flour for the deep fried eggplant. The dry shrimps (蝦米)fried with the eggplant were very hard. Nevertheless, the overall impression is good. Will come again to try other dishes. ”
“ Very accommodating service. Food was good as expectable for a restaurant Parking could be tight. ”
“ It has been one of our favourite dining spots since childhood whenever our family wanted to have classic chinese cuisines. Serving dishes like dong po rou, asam fish, special beancurd and etc. Enjoyed this recent visit down memory lane. ”
“ Old-fashioned chinese restaurant. Food was delicious - really enjoyed the yellow rice wine chicken which is an off menu item. Seafood tofu tasted authentic, stir fry kailan was crunchy and tender, pork ribs was very good. Above average standard. Would return for the hearty chinese food ”
